Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Rollcall (“we”, “us”). By using Rollcall you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

The service

Rollcall is a text adventure game where an AI Game Master narrates a shared story for you and your friends, and can paint pictures of scenes. The story and pictures are generated by AI. They can be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unexpected, and they are fiction: don't rely on anything in them as advice.

Who can use it

You must be 13 or older. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they must agree to these terms for any purchase. You're responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for what happens in rooms you host.

Plans and payments

• Free: 30 story rounds and 3 pictures, once.
• Adventurer (£9.99/mo, or £99.99/yr) and Legend (£19.99/mo): subscriptions with a monthly allowance of rounds and pictures. Allowances refill every month from your start date and don't roll over.
• Free trial: your first Adventurer subscription starts with a 7-day free trial, capped at 100 rounds and 10 pictures. Unless you cancel before it ends, your subscription starts and you're charged automatically.
• Top-up packs (£4.99): 100 extra rounds and 10 pictures, used after your plan allowance runs out. They don't expire while your account exists.
• The host pays: every round and picture in a room comes out of the host's allowance. Friends who join your room play free.
• Prices include VAT where it applies. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Renewal and cancelling

Subscriptions renew automatically each month (or year) until you cancel. Cancel any time in one click from Account → Cancel subscription; your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. You can undo it before then. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any price change, so you can cancel before it applies.

Your right to cancel and refunds

Under UK consumer law you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content or services. Because Rollcall gives you access straight away, you agree when you buy that the service starts immediately, and you lose the right to cancel for the rounds and pictures you've already used. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment and have used little or none of it, email us and we'll refund you. A failed round or picture never uses up your allowance. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.

Acceptable use

Don't use Rollcall to:

• create content that is illegal, sexually explicit, involves minors in any sexual way, or harasses or threatens real people;
• share other people's personal information;
• try to get around allowances, rate limits, or security, or access accounts or rooms that aren't yours;
• use bots, scripts, or automated sign-ups, or resell access;
• trick the AI into producing harmful instructions or content that breaks our AI providers' policies.

The Game Master keeps content suitable for ages 13 and up, and we may block content that breaks these rules. We can suspend or close accounts that do, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

Your content

You own what you write. You give us a licence to store it, process it (including sending it to our AI providers), and show it to the other players in your room, only so we can run the game. As far as the law allows, you can use the story and pictures made in your games for any personal purpose; AI-generated material may not be protected by copyright, and similar output may be generated for others.

Our content

The Rollcall name, website, campaign settings, and artwork belong to us. You can't copy or reuse them outside the game without permission.

Availability

We work to keep Rollcall running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, for example when an AI provider is overloaded. We may change or discontinue features. If we close the service, we'll give subscribers reasonable notice and refund any unused paid period.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, we're not liable for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Closing your account

You can stop using Rollcall at any time. To delete your account and its data, use Account → Your data → Delete my account, which also cancels any subscription straight away. You can also email support@rollcallrpg.com.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and tell account holders by email about significant changes before they take effect. If you keep using Rollcall after that, the new terms apply.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims in your local courts. If something goes wrong, please email support@rollcallrpg.com first and we'll try to sort it out.
